In the 1930s two-thirds of this vast site was used to build Dolphin Square, another project on a grand scale in the Cubitt traditoin. This “high class” modern residential complex, complete with shops and other facilities, was at the time fhe largest block of flats in Europe: 1,310 flats for around 3,000 people.
